Every manuscript submitted to JEC follows a structured, transparent path from submission to publication. Prepare your manuscript as an anonymised Word file following the author guidelines: article types and lengths, anonymising, figures, tables, equations, and the journal's reference style. Then submit online.
Author submits the manuscript online with cover letter and declarations.
Editor-in-Chief checks scope fit, formatting, and plagiarism screening, helped by an automated pre-screen.
Independent reviewers assess originality, rigor, and significance.
Accept, minor/major revision, or reject — communicated to the author.
Authors respond to reviewer comments and resubmit the revised manuscript.
Accepted articles are copyedited, published online, and submitted for indexing.
Every article is published open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Anyone may read, download, share and adapt it, for any purpose, provided the original authors and source are credited.
Authors keep the copyright in their work and grant the journal the right to publish it under this licence. By submitting, you confirm that you are entitled to do so, including for any third-party figures or material you include.
To speed up the first check, new submissions are read by an automated assistant before the Editor-in-Chief's screening. It checks completeness, formatting, the ethics and competing-interest statements, and fit with the journal's scope, and runs a preliminary similarity check against published literature. Its report is advice to the editor only: every editorial decision is made by a human editor, and no manuscript is rejected automatically.
The manuscript text is processed by Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini) under Google Cloud's enterprise terms, which do not allow Google to use it to train its models. Short extracts of the title and abstract are used to search the open scholarly index OpenAlex. Author names and contact details are not sent to either service.
You can opt out when you submit; your manuscript is then screened by the editor alone, with no effect on the decision.

JEC is fully open access: articles are free to read and reuse. There is no fee to submit and no fee for peer review. The article processing charge is payable only after acceptance. Authors outside India pay ₹3,000 (GST not applicable). Waivers or discounts can be requested, for example by students or authors from low-income countries, and are decided by a managing editor, never by the editor handling the manuscript. A waiver request never affects the editorial decision. Fees policy.
